Visco-elastic memory foam is already a great choice for those suffering from allergies or respiratory sensitivity, due to its inherent anti-dust mite properties, but Isoform – a US-based memory foam mattress manufacturer, has taken this one step further with the option of supplying the mattress in a bamboo cover fabric.
The Isoform Classic 9” is a firm memory foam mattress retailing at $399 for a twin (single) size, making it one of the more affordable options today. The memory foam layer on the Isoform Classic is rated at 5lb density, which puts it almost on par with the Tempur equivalent and the most expensive high quality alternatives on the market today. However, the lack of a dedicated air flow layer between the memory foam and the base layer counts as a mark against the Isoform Classic. The tendency for the memory foam layer to retain heat means that the mattress will heat up considerably over the course of a night. Isoform have considered this factor with the option of a moisture-wicking CoolMax cover, but this negates the bamboo cover option, which will be attractive for many purchasers.
The Isoform Classic with a bamboo cover remains an intelligent and inexpensive choice for anyone who suffers excessively from allergies, with the concession that the mattress will occasionally overheat.
Summary: Offers good value for money for the quality of materials employed. Whilst outer covers are not without merit they are powerless to adequately address foam core heat retention. A strong contender for cooler blooded sleepers.

Memory foam buyers guide rating: 3.5 stars out of 5.
