HealCo’s Dream Series memory foam mattress is a high density (5lb) grade option with heavy emphasis on hypo-allergenic performance. With a bamboo cover and ‘fresh foam’ composition, this US-manufactured memory foam mattress is pitched as a good quality memory foam option for sensitive allergy sufferers.
With a 3”, 5lb density memory foam layer the HealCo Dream offers a medium firmness, which will make the mattress advantageous for those with a tendency for back pain, but potentially uncomfortable for average sleepers. HealCo employs an innovative layer for heat alleviation, which they call the Heat Reduction Channels (HRC). This layer features a series of horizontal indentations running width-ways across the mattress, offering breathability for the interior core and preventing the mattress becoming excessively hot.
With a starting price of just under $700 for the twin (single) size, the HealCo Dream mattress is a mid-to-high priced option.
An important consideration with the HealCo Dream is that it is not compatible with standard bed bases, and comes with its own specific frame. While the custom frame ensures consistent performance from the mattress, it rules out the choice of using an existing base – something that most alternative memory foam mattresses in the same price range can comfortably deal with.
Summary: Good specification for the money, however not so when taking into consideration the need for the specialist bed base too. All things considered, we feel there are better options available at this price point.
