Ergoflex Memory Foam Mattress Review

Ergoflex has established itself as one of the best value premium memory foam manufacturers over the last few years, offering what the company claims to be a high-end memory foam experience at a low price point.

Here at Memoryfoamguide.org we tried out a double-sized Ergoflex, and here’s what we found.

Opening and Installation

The Ergoflex comes vacuum-packed in what on first-glance is an unusually small, almost cylindrical box, but unfurls upon opening and expands to the full size, depth, and pleasingly hefty weight over a period of an hour or so.

We’d categorise the Ergoflex as ‘medium to firm’, certainly not the most rigid memory foam response we’ve experienced but massively more supportive than a lot of the softer types on the market today. This firmness allows for some body-shaping, without hindering movement or feeling ‘spongy’ in any way - again, something that couldn’t be claimed about some of the softer alternatives.

First Impressions: Sleeping on an Ergoflex

Over a night’s sleep, the memory foam performance offered by the Ergoflex was first rate, with a real feeling that the whole body was being equally supported - a comforting feeling for the lower back and other important pressure points such as hips and shoulders. Finding a relaxing sleeping position was almost immediate, and waking up brought a feeling of being well-rested – no mean feat from the first night on a new mattress.

One commonly-reported issue when it comes to memory foam mattresses is their apparent tendency to overheat. To prevent this, the Ergoflex has what is described as a ‘cool sleep airflow system’, which, despite the highly technical sounding name is apparently a layer of ridged material, designed to ventilate the mattress. However it is described, it works. While the mattress does get slightly warmer than your average traditional pocket-sprung type, it doesn’t reach anything approaching uncomfortable, and compares favourably against some of the cheaper and more expensive alternatives available.

Ergoflex vs Tempur Memory Foam Mattresses

Now, the million-dollar question is how does the Ergoflex compare against a Tempur? We wouldn’t usually be inclined to make this comparison, but it’s unavoidable considering the lengths that Ergoflex go to make the claim in its marketing materials, and many prospective customers who are researching their next purchase.

Well, in terms of memory foam performance we’d say that Tempur slightly edges this particular head-to-head, but there really isn’t a lot in it. Tempur’s Deluxe is slightly softer, while the Original is a touch firmer, so the Ergoflex hits the mark for a viable middle ground and therefore may actually be the superior choice for certain people. Where Ergoflex claims to offer a like-for-like experience against the Tempur we’d be hard pressed to argue, as the differences are minimal and the similarities are undoubted. Certainly when thinking about the fairly eye-watering difference in price, we’d confidently say that the Ergoflex was the one to go for.

Taking every aspect into account - premium quality, outstanding memory foam performance, and the all-important price – the Ergoflex memory foam mattress receives our 5-star award.
